The Restorative Justice Youth Leadership Council is committed to increasing meaningful student engagement  and student leadership within OUSD Restorative Practices. We are a group of middle and high school students from Oakland schools who practice restorative justice in our schools.

Meaningful Student Engagement:

  •  Is a person that has a purpose in life, who is reliable, committed, and trustworthy.  (Meaningful)

  • We are peers who learn in school the knowledge needed to gain a career in the future.  (Students)

  • A group of problem solving youth, who are capable of solving conflict in their communities and individuals who are dedicated to creating peace and kindness in people’s lives.  (Engagement)

We use our  energy, committment, and compromise to unite with each other to increase meaningful student engagement in restorative justice practices and programs.

The Restorative Justice Youth Leadership Council is co-sponsored by

Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth (RJOY) and Oakland Unified School District Restorative Justice Practices.
