Meet our Team! 

Who is the RJ Youth Council?

Zakee: Hi, my name is Zakee. I am 12 years old, and in the 7th grade. Restorative Justice is important because we can solve problems and put an end to arguments. I joined Restorative Justice because I am great at public speaking.I like to spend time with my family, and I want to be a doctor in the future.

 

Yasmine: Hi, my name is Yasmine. I am 14 years old, and in the 8th grade. I joined Restorative Justice because I want to make a difference at my school, or just in general. Ummm, Restorative Justice is helpful & keeps peace.I like to travel & meet new people & I want to travel before I go to college.

 

Teddy: Hi, my name is Teddy. I am 12, almost 13, years old, and in the 7th grade. Restorative Justice is important because it helps people solve problems without hurting their permanent record.I joined Restorative Justice to be a leader for the leaders.I like to act and watch TV, and I want to be a lawyer, or a doctor.

 

Julia: Hi, my name is Julia. I’m 13 years old, and in the 8th grade. Restorative Justice makes the community a better place. I joined the council to help better the community in school and all of Oakland. I want to stop violence and change all types of abuse from animal abuse to domestic violence and child abuse. I like singing, acting, and dancing.

I would like to be a veterinarian.

 

Mica:  Hi, my name is Mica and I’m in the 7th grade. RJ  is important to me because everyone should be heard, and by using restorative justice it helps to create a better space where people feel able to share and know that there are people listening and that they are being heard but not being made fun of just because of what is going on.  I joined the Restorative Justice council because it seemed like a space with cool people. I like to EAT + cook...sometimes.  I want to be the person who is randomly kind to strangers.

Brian: Hi, my name is Brian. I am 16 years old, and in the 11th grade. RJ is important because it solves conflicts between people. I joined in order to change the way some people see Restorative Justice circles.I like swimming, and I want to be retired for life.

 

Gianni: Hi my name is Gianni, I am 13 years old, and in the 8th grade. RJ is important to me because it will show me what to do in the future and benefit me in life.I like sports, graffiti, video games and hanging with my friends. I want to be in the NBA.I also I want to play for Bishop O’ Dowd.

 

Lidia: Hi, my name is Lidia. Im 13, in the eighth grade. Restorative Justice is important to me because I want to comfort the world in peace. I joined the council because I screwed up my first opportunity and I want to take it serious this time, especially since I’m going to high school. I like to play with my cousins and siblings, I like to tell jokes and stories, and I like to explore. When I get older I want to go to college and then see what my fate leads me to.
